Abstract

Adjacent to the nasal cavity, are the paranasal cavities: maxillary, frontal, ethmoidal and sphenoidal. The ethmoid labyrinth is adjacent to the anterior cranial fossa. The lateral wall of the ethmoid is the medial wall of the orbit while the medial wall of the ethmoid sinus forms the lateral wall of the nose and attachment for the middle turbinate. Due to its close proximity to the nasal cavity, the ethmoid sinus is often involved when tumour extends from the nose into adjacent structures.
