Abstract
Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a major health problem as it is widely spread in both Europe and USA. In North American epidemiological researches it seems that about 6% of the population suffer from DM, with approximately 30 000 new cases a year (1). Due to its classical complications, notably renal failure, neuropathy, retinopathy and cardiovascular disease, the life expectancy of the diabetic patient is about one-third less than that of the general population.
