Recovering Engineering Drawing Entities from Vector Data

  • Chapter
Machine Interpretation of Line Drawing Images

Abstract

The machine interpretation of engineering drawings has developed quickly over the last two decades. Early work focused on vectorisation [157,168,214,215], though more sophisticated entity recognition systems soon began to emerge [14,188,216- 218]. Analysis of the performance of these systems and our own experience in engineering drawing interpretation suggests some general principles that might usefully be borne in mind [13].
