Abstract

Adolescents in Malaysia have been a concern to society and have occupied much media attention over the past two years. The web of social ills in which they have been caught includes smoking, drug abuse, loafing, gangsterism and baby dumping. I wish to describe here the conflicts and contradictions confronting young people, which are encouraging them to smoke.
