Abstract
A ganglion is a sac filled with gelatinous material surrounding a tendon sheath. It tends to occur near small joints, commonly on the dorsum of the wrist, but may be found over any joint. It has a high recurrence rate following surgical excision so the patient must be warned of this. On palpation the lump may feel bony hard and may be tender.
