Anal Procedures

Most anal procedures can be done on a day-case basis. For most of the procedures it is preferable, though not essential, to have the rectum empty. This can be achieved by the use of suppositories several hours before the procedure and an enema an hour prior to the procedure. Procedures that require specialist training such as colonoscopy or in-patient treatment, such as haemorrhoidectomy, have not been included.
