Abstract
When undertaking leg lengthening, there are three aims:
-
i.
To achieve significant increases of between 10 percent or more of the original length; the limb may be smaller than the normal limb in all dimensions, and new tissue needs to be created in all the structures of the limb.
-
ii.
To minimise temporary morbidity.
-
iii.
To prevent permanent loss of function.
