Abstract

Knowledge-based systems have had a big impact on industry and society. They have got past the stage of prototypes and are now in the application stage where they are being used for everyday work. We can consider the areas which are the most relevant. The ‘knowledge acquisition bottleneck’ needs to be fully overcome by making more use of automated tools, to ensure higher efficiency. More recent technologies need to be incorporated into the process such as group decision support systems. Knowledge can be represented for different control in systems such as blackboard systems. Systems can be implemented more quickly due to modularity.
