Abstract
Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) is one of the three principal ‘technologies’ of electronic commerce. It shares the field with electronic markets, such as airline booking systems, and with the more informal area of consumer electronic commerce that is typified by much of the commercial activity on the Internet. These three overlapping areas of electronic commerce are represented diagramatically in Figure 1.
