Abstract
One of the great benefits of an object-oriented language is that libraries of classes can be created and used to add functionality to applications and applets. The Java Application Programming Interface (API) includes hundreds of classes. Since these classes have been thoroughly tested it is always better to use them rather than creating your own classes.
