Abstract
Some instruments are just not available off the shelf, but somebody with ATM skills can use these to avoid the high cost of having such a specialist instrument custom-made by a manufacturer. Terry Platt’s telescope is an excellent example of an instrument being built to meet a specific need which could not be met by commercially available instruments. He uses this 318 mm (12.5 in) f/20 unobstructed reflector for planetary CCD imaging.
