Abstract

the basic technology and the main techniques for the realization of chirped fiber gratings for dispersion compensation are reviewed. We give a general overview of the most important typical parameters for grating qualification, describing some of the most recent system tests that proved the applicability of fiber grating dispersion compensators (FGDC) within high bit rate, long haul, dense WDM networks.
