Functional Planar Waveguide Devices

  • Conference paper

Abstract

The most prominent feature of silica waveguides is their simple and well defined waveguide structures. This allows us to fabricate functional devices such as arrayed-waveguide gratings and lattice-form programmable dispersion equalizers by utilizing spatial multi-beam or temporal multi-stage interference effects. Hybrid optoelectronics integration technologies will further enable us to realize much more functional and high-speed devices.
