Abstract

Whenever I am asked on advice on choosing an astronomical telescope, whether the budget is £200 or £2000, the question always follows, ‘Can I take photographs through it?’ This is not surprising when one sees the impressive photographs, so often featured in astronomical journals, of galaxies, star-fields and colourful nebulæ.
