Abstract

Two years ago anyone analysing the speech-activation market would have come to the conclusion that it was an extremely minor niche part of the computer industry, geared to catering for users with a major mobility disability. Then, there were probably not more than 1000 speech-activation systems in use worldwide. A very large percentage of these would have been installed in the disabled market.
