Abstract
So far in this book we have been looking at training from an individual point of view, dealing mostly with the training needs of individual members of our teams. Now it is time to look at the wider organizational picture, to put training into the context of the project team or IT department as a whole. There are several ways of organizing the system development and support functions; what are the implications for training and skill development? How do we go about training large numbers of people and giving them the opportunity to use and develop the new skills?
