Abstract
Lymphoproliferative disorders of the gastrointestinal tract represent a diverse group of diseases, including many types of non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas. The recognition of specific gastrointestinal lymphoproliferative disorders as discrete entities in newer non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma classification schemes has improved diagnostic accuracy and has led to advances in therapy. The surgeon still has a role to play in the staging and diagnosis of lymphoma and in the management of acute complications related to gastrointestinal lymphoma in particular. The latter conditions are frequently secondary to chronic immunosuppression in high-risk patients.
