Abstract

Java has primarily been a language used to implement browser-side programs, also known as applets, when it comes to the Web. However, with the Java Servlet API, the power of Java can be applied to server-side software as well as to the client-side (browser) software. This chapter tells you how servlets are written, what they are used for and how they interact with browser requests.
