Implementation of Collaboration Technologies: A Review of the Literature
This chapter presents some findings and experiences from previous research related to the organisational implementation of collaboration technologies in industry. The studies included are mainly collected from academic publications, to ensure that the findings are based on an “objective” stance and a thorough methodological approach. One of the aims of this book is also to contribute to disseminating the findings and practical implications from academic research to a broader audience of industry practitioners. However, vendors and consulting companies have also generated much useful material in the form of industry and technology reports, and “white papers” presenting exemplar case studies. Although not included in this review, these sources may offer a useful complement to academic research, as long as one is aware of the potential bias and/or sales aims in these sources.
