Part of the book series: Computer Supported Cooperative Work ((CSCW))

Abstract

Chapter Chapter 1 presented a definition of collaboration technology. This chapter gives an overview of the main categories of collaboration technologies, and provides examples of applications of these technologies. Rather than providing an exhaustive guide to the area, the aim here is mainly to give the reader sufficient background for understanding the technological context of the case studies presented in Part 2 of the book. Thus, the description of the technologies focuses more on functionality and possible applications rather than technical issues.
