Abstract
Figures 17 and 19 show the breakdown of the various research papers across the VoIPSA and extended classifications, respectively. For easy visual comparison, we include again the breakdown of known vulnerabilities across from Sec. 3, shown here in Figure 18. As can be easily seen, there are large discrepancies between research focus and known vulnerabilities (and, presumably, needs for further work), specifically in the areas of denial of service and social threats. The latter seems over-represented, a fact perhaps explained by our prior experience with email spam and the concomitant desire to avoid it in the VoIP realm. Furthermore, we should point out that some research on denial of service prevention and mitigation is more When we look at the combined research space (both VoIPSA and extended classifications), the situation changes significantly (mostly for the worse).
