Optimization problems in finite-dimensional variables which are subject to infinitely many constraints arise in a large number of technical and economical applications. In order to design solution methods for these so-called semi-infinite optimization problems it is necessary to first understand their structural peculiarities, and then, based upon these insights, to derive powerful optimality conditions. Along these lines, the aim of this book is the construction of an efficient solution method for a general type of semi-infinite optimization problems.
