Abstract
The aim of this study was to validate the method for the determination of inorganic cations from wastewater by means of capillary electrophoresis (CE) using UV detection. The implementation of the capillary electrophoresis technique for the simultaneous separation and detection of some metals (Na+, K+, Ca2+, Mg2+) and ammonium ions (NH4 +) in the wastewaters generated by the finishing departments of the textile industry factories is presented. Separations were carried out in a capillary tube made of fused silica. All cations were completely separated in less than 9 minutes. The results of the electrophoretical analysis of the wastewaters were compared with the results of the Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS) and the Emission Plasma Spectroscopy (ICP) analysis.
