Abstract

A few characteristics of interstitial cystitis exist that remain constant for most patients. They are best described as “the five Fs.” The first F is the Face. From the minute you walk into the examination room, the diagnosis is recognizable. The Face, with the frown, tells it all. This is not a happy patient; it is someone with pain and frustration written all over their Face.
