Abstract

The number of sleeplessness and melancholia patients is increasing with the fast living pace and high life stress in the modern society. However, through music therapy, the three characteristics of music which are relaxation, recreation, and rejuvenation lets patients relax and decompress. In this chapter, we propose a decision support system, the Situation-aware Music Therapy Service Recommendation System (SMTSRS), which provides an adaptive Music Therapy Service (MTS). The MTS will provide relevant recommendations to its user. The SMTSRS is built upon an integrated service platform in which medical experts’ knowledge and all the positive and negative influences of the proposed therapy are considered. Above all, a patient’s symptom is inferred by music content classification.
