Despite our best – if moribund – dualistic intuitions, we cannot efface reality, and it cannot dodge us. This is true of all things in the universe of which we an uncanny expression. In building models of organisms, the first thing to acknowledge is the circle that is closed by existence; every object or being in the world is also a part of it. Objects compose the world in the same measure that they are enveloped by it and this is valid for animate and inanimate alike.
