Abstract
Before we begin our discussion of dynamics, it is necessary to review a few definitions. We review the terms function, one-to-one, onto, continuous, and inverse function in this chapter. A good, working knowledge of these terms is fundamental to understanding the material in subsequent chapters. We also introduce homeomorphisms, which will be important in Chapter 9, and complete the chapter by reviewing the Intermediate Value Theorem.
