Abstract
The research field of Information Retrieval (IR) deals with the representation, storage, and access of information elements. The representation should provide the user with easy access to the information of interest. A commonly used representation method for textual information is the extraction of a number of keywords (indexing-terms) that will compose an abstraction of the information asked by the user. Given a user query, an IR system aims at retrieving information that could be useful or relative to the user in a way that is totally different from simple data retrieval.
