Abstract

Every student of topology has heard of filters: If I is a nonempty set, a filter is a set F of subsets of I such that:

  • I ∈ F, Ø ∉ F;

  • if X, Y ∈ F then X ∩ Y ∈ F

  • if X ∈ F and X ⊂ Y, then Y ∈ F.
