Abstract
The services of a high quality analytical laboratory are vital to accurately measure the levels of chemicals in food samples collected for a total diet study (TDS). The document details procurement guidelines which may assist with the contracting of laboratories for food analysis. The information is a guide only and should not supersede any formal procurement guidelines.
Various stages of the procurement process are described in detail including tendering, tender evaluation and ranking, and establishment of an analytical contract. Effective management of performance, including regular communication, is also vital for the duration of the sampling and analytical component of the study.
