Abstract
In the last chapter, we discussed how neural systems of the parietal and temporal lobes influence selective attention to sensory information. Sensory selective attention occurs largely as a function of the spatial characteristics of information to be processed. The profound hemi-inattention and neglect that often results after damage to these neural systems reflects a failure of directed and selective attention relative to the temporal-spatial frame of reference within the environment.
