Measures of Financial Knowledge and Management

Abstract

This chapter includes instruments designed to measure general financial knowledge and financial literacy, as well as o bjective, subjective, and perceived financial knowledge. This chapter also contains scales, indexes, and one-item measures for use in assessing financial management practices, roles, and satisfaction. Several specific topic areas are addressed, such as credit cards, time horizons, debt use, investment allocation, net worth adequacy, income adequacy, and financial problems. These instruments have the potential to be used by researchers or practitioners. Descriptive information for each instrument is provided and includes background information on the sample norm, as well as the reliability and validity of each instrument.
