Abstract

Visual light makes up only a tiny part of the whole range of wavelengths. Beyond the short-wave end of the visual range, we have ultra-violet, X-rays and gamma-rays. Beyond the long-wave end, we have infra-red, microwaves and radio waves. Today, we have instruments to study all these, and they make use of space-craft because these frequencies are blocked by our atmosphere.
