Abstract
In SETI, the strategies used for searching for celestial signals are divided into two main groups. The first group focuses on the study of specific targets with a known location, which are, for one or more reasons, good candidates to have civilizations. This type of search usually concentrates on nearby stars, from which a hypothetical signal would arrive with more intensity than from elsewhere, and from stars similar to the Sun (since this is the only star we know in whose planetary system life has emerged).
