Abstract
Metastases in the thyroid gland are rare and the ultrasound appearance depends on the primary tumor. They are most commonly seen in patients with renal cell carcinomas, breast carcinoma, and malignant melanomas [6,7]. In renal cell carcinoma a metastasis may be the first sign of the disease, but when metastases from the other malignancies are found, the diagnosis of the primary tumor will usually already be known.
