Abstract
Adams’ paper of 1877 – we mentioned it earlier for the high praise that Adams there gave to Hill’s work on the motion of the lunar perigee – was published in the Monthly Notices, and bore the title “The Motion of the Moon’s Node in the case when the Orbits of the Sun and Moon are supposed to have no Eccentricities, and when their mutual Inclination is supposed to be indefinitely small.”80 The part of the motion of the node Adams was concerned with depends solely on the ratio of the mean motions of the Sun and Moon; it is the principal part, differing little from the observational value.
