Abstract

Pain, an experience that is both sensory and emotional, profoundly affects an individual’s physiological and psychological being. It should be managed in the context of the whole person. Interventional pain management is best practiced as an aspect of a multidisciplinary approach for pain relief. This chapter will provide an overview of the common peripheral nerve, neuraxial and sympathetic blocks, trigger point injection, and intrathecal therapy for chronic pain from diseases across the life course. Discussions will also provide sufficient details on how the procedures are performed, their efficacy and complications.
