Abstract

Hemangioblastomas are highly vascular tumors that are typically benign and slow-growing, corresponding to WHO grade I. They may occur sporadically or in the context of Von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) syndrome (see Sect. F); the former predominates. They have also been referred to as capillary hemangioblastomas. Though it is clearly the stromal cell that is the neoplastic component in these tumors, the underlying cell of origin has yet to be determined.
