Abstract
Since the first edition of this book, there are encouraging signs that researchers are not limiting themselves to just documenting the prevalence, correlates, and consequences of medical nonadherence. They are conducting controlled studies using randomized controlled group designs and single-subject designs to evaluate the impact of interventions on adherence and health outcomes. The purpose of this final chapter is to review and critique studies on improving adherence to regimens for acute and chronic pediatric diseases, summarize recent meta-analyses of this literature, and offer 10 ways that research on pediatric medical adherence can be improved.
