This chapter focuses on two objectives: First,the country-related inequity factors in math achievement are identified and examined. Second, the relationship between equity and quality of math education, at the country level, is explored. According to the definition in Chapter 7, a country-related inequity factor is one that accounts for a significant proportion of between-country variance in the country’s TIMSS 2003 math score, as computed and published by TIMSS 2003. The country-related factors that will be considered in this chapter are the the country’s educational and economic indicators.
