Abstract

Now that you have SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) installed, in this chapter, I’ll cover some basic skills to help you in getting started. I won’t cover Linux basics in much detail here. If you have never worked with Linux before, I suggest you read my Beginning the Linux Command Line (Apress, 2009). What you will learn in this chapter is how an SLES is organized and where you can find important components of the operating system. You’ll receive an introduction to working from the GNOME graphical environment as well. You’ll also get an introduction to working with YaST, the integrated management utility on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server.
