Requirements for integration and migration of data to and from a CRM environment come in many flavors. The type of CRM environment (CRM 2011 Online versus on-premise and CRM 4.0), the systems being integrated with (other versions of CRM, databases such as Oracle and SQL, or back-end systems like finance), and the direction of the data (pulling from CRM or writing to CRM) are all factors that will influence your decision-making around appropriate technology and architecture. This chapter looks at several patterns and applications of technology, including custom code, database components, and Scribe Online. Although there are many factors, and integration can be challenging from an architectural aspect, creating a final solution that is easy to develop and maintain is possible.
