Abstract

VHDL (VHSIC (very high speed integrated circuit) Hardware Description Language) is one of the industry's standard languages used to describe digital systems—hardware. It is a powerful language that allows you to describe and simulate complex digital systems. This chapter deals with the basic structure of a VHDL file and how to use it to develop a simple digital design. This chapter is like teaching you how to use a calculator (VHDL) and do math (digital design) at the same time.
