Abstract

Never underestimate the power of frustration. It certainly helped motivate me to begin my career as a digital artist. For years, I had worked at art-related jobs: I was (briefly) an art director, spent many years as a designer, and a few more retouching images at a photography studio — but I felt unsatisfied, like I was going around and around in circles, getting nowhere. It was that sense of frustration that led me to create my first piece of digital art. I wanted a seamless blend of photography, digital art, and traditional illustration; something I had never really attempted before. But I also had a strong urge to create something rich and intelligent, something that had meaning.
