Abstract
Live tiles are a feature where the Windows platform, on Windows 8, Windows Phone, and Xbox, really shines. They provide information to users without them having to open each and every app. A quick glance at the Start screen is enough to know if new e-mails have arrived or to check if apps need updates or how their favorite team performed yesterday. It’s up to the developer to leverage this functionality, and a good implementation of these notifications can really make an app stand out from the crowd.
