Abstract

The Android DrawerLayout class is also a recent addition to the Android OS as of the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich release. It was developed to permit developers to put their UI elements into a drawer that can slide on-screen when needed and then slide out of the way, off-screen, allowing more screen real estate to be available for the application's primary content and use.
