Abstract
To my knowledge, there is little in the current spreadsheet literature discussing best practices with data visualization. There are many books on how to create pie charts, three-dimensional charts, and spider-charts, but few discuss why for each of these charts there is always a better choice available. I see why tutorials on these subjects are at first appealing; after all, the former charts are part of the Excel core package library. Therefore, to perhaps pass the Expert Microsoft Excel certification, knowing how to create these charts may be of service to you. However, for us, the developers and data consumers, these charts do more harm than good.
