Abstract

In this chapter, I provide guidance on how to build policies and standards that maintain the supportability of the farm and maximize its compatibility with upgrade processes. I offer considerations for designing solutions in a manner that takes advantage of structures within SharePoint, and implementation strategies that offer the lowest risk against interfering with cumulative updates, service packs, or version upgrades. I also introduce approaches for rollback planning.
