Abstract
You can do a lot to customize SharePoint online using just the web user interface (UI). But you inevitably run into the limitations when using just a web browser. To overcome these limitations, you need to move up to using SharePoint Designer (SPD) 2010. Development done in SPD is frequently called customization rather than {endevelopment} because the edits you make will be made using declarative statements instead of server-side compiled managed code assemblies. That’s why development in SPD is frequently referred to as {enno-code development} (even though you can still write code using HTML, XML, or client-side script).
