Standards are everywhere, but what exactly are they? How do they come about? What do they accomplish? This chapter will answer these questions in depth. Using the information in this chapter, product managers and developers will be able to understand what kinds of standards apply to their cloud projects and how the standards can contribute to the success of the product. Managers and executives will be able to help their engineers make the right decisions in evaluating the applicability of a given standard to their projects.
